'Do it again': City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox kicks off re-election campaign
Amid heavy afternoon heat and rain, friends and family gathered together to celebrate Tallahassee City Commissioner Dianne Williams-Cox for her birthday and her re-election kick off.
The venue was The Monroe, located at SoMo Walls and owned by local developer and Grow Tallahassee treasurer Bugra Demirel, who attended the party and backed Williams-Cox in a fierce 2022 re-election campaign.
Alongside him were several other familiar faces such as neighborhood advocate Talethia Edwards, City Commissioner Curtis Richardson, County Commissioner Carolyn Cummings, former city commissioner Elaine Bryant, Dr. David Bellamy, who ran unsuccessfully against Jeremy Matlow, and others.
Williams-Cox is the only incumbent so far to file in the 2026 elections. But her colleagues on the dais, Mayor John Dailey and Jeremy Matlow, are signaling they may be on a collision course in a run for the mayor spot.
