Let’s start the day with some Martin Weill. He’s the last of the Post’s old school writers.

Warm, bright, dry Saturday in D.C. seemed almost matchless

For second day in a row, absence of humidity made for a splendid summer day.

Friday may have seemed to be an incomparable summer day in Washington, but Saturday seemed to be its atmospheric equal, and the two days seemed remarkably and enjoyably alike in every category that makes for summertime ease, pleasure and comfort.

It is always tempting to rhapsodize about a day like Friday, to recognize its rarity in a place like the District, in a month such as August, by giving voice to such extravagant claims as “they don’t make them like that any more.”

Friday’s claim to rarity deserved respect. But Saturday disproved any assertion Friday could make of its uniqueness. Saturday turned out to be another warm, bright, almost anomalously dry day in the District.

It enabled those who had missed Friday to see what all the talk was about. And for those fortunate enough to recognize the gift that was Friday, Saturday, under its bright blue skies, in its beguiling breeze, was another gift.
