Democrats In Two CT Towns Challenge Local Election Decisions In Court

Democrats in Branford and South Windsor have filed lawsuits this week to challenge local election results, claiming local officials essentially ignored the will of voters.

While Democrats in South Windsor were not able to prevent the swearing-in ceremony for the Town Council – which went forward on Monday – there is a hearing scheduled for Nov. 17 in the Branford case, where Democrats hope a judge will rule in their favor and order that their Board of Education candidate be sworn in.

The swearing-in ceremony for the Branford school board is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 19, according to Branford Democratic Town Committee Chair Kevin Coughlin.

In South Windsor, Harrison Amadasun, a Democratic candidate for Town Council, is named as a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed this week against Town Clerk Bonnie Armstrong, asserting that Amadasun was the rightfully-elected candidate.
