https://denverite.com/2025/11/05/broncos-burnham-yard-plan-vibrant-denver-bond/The Denver Broncos revealed new details on Wednesday about the stadium they plan to build at Burnham Yard.
The team submitted a pre-application, including a high-level map of where the stadium and surrounding infrastructure could stand. The entire project is expected to cover 150 acres on the southwest side of downtown.
The plans show that the team is hoping for substantial upgrades to public infrastructure around the site, including more than $100 million in city-funded improvements to nearby roads that were included in the Vibrant Denver bond package.
The Walton-Penner Family Ownership Groups vision is to establish a new model for a Stadium Neighborhood: a vibrant urban development with a one-of-a-kind fan experience, diverse daily offerings and meaningful connections to surrounding neighborhoods and the region, the document reads.

Asking because I don't know Denver, but I lived in Seattle when they tore down the kingdome and made taxpayers pay for it.

(7,882 posts)I've lived here for over 40 years, but just don't get to that part of town and not really a sports person but...
It sounds like no houses are involved and any businesses that are in the area, the Broncos are paying to relocate. The majority of the land is old stockyard ground and unused.
This is the reddit thread I looked at if interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/Denver/comments/1opbbht/the_broncos_have_submitted_their_large_area_plan/

But
.the city of Denver and its people have been told this new complex would be 100% privately funded. Sounds like that is not true.
Then you have the current Stadium, Empower Field, it is not that old. Maybe 20 years or so. Its nice inside and out, and is not falling down by any stretch.

(2,704 posts)Oh, dear, it sounds almost like the kingdome! Private partnerships will pay for it! Oh, wait it's going to cost more than we thought! Let's put it to the voters and ask them to pay for it!!
And when the voters said no, the group behind it went whining to the state legislature, and got the state to basically pass a law putting the cost on king county voters. I think king county voters may still be paying for it!
