California DA reshares Islamophobic posts about NYC's Mamdani, then doubles down

After resharing multiple social media posts this week linking the election of Zohran Mamdani as mayor of New York to the attacks of 9/11, San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow was called out Thursday by the Council on American-Islamic Relations.

In a letter to Dow dated Nov. 6, CAIR-LA’s attorney, Dina Chehata, expressed “deep concern regarding your recent social media posts connecting the election of Zohran Mamdani as New York City’s first Muslim mayor to 9/11.”

Dow reshared multiple posts on his X account @dandow, featuring images of planes hitting the World Trade Center on 9/11.

The first post, which he shared on Tuesday, came from far-right anti-Islam activist Amy Mek, who founded Rise Align Ignite Reclaim Foundation. CAIR defines the organization as an anti-Islam hate group.

This is an unforgiveable headline from sfgate.com. It is not the California AG, it is a county (San Luis Obispo) DA hlthe2b Saturday #1

When they say only "California," it implies a statewide official. Misleading to the point of being unforgivable, IMHO.

I was an editor years ago for AP before I finished my first post-graduate degree. It is WRONG. (Don't judge my online mistakes and texts by my prior expertise-- I still remember the rules)
