Redding voters to decide on Measure A sales tax during special election

REDDING, Calif. — As election day approaches, the City of Redding will vote on Measure A, the proposed one percent sales tax.

Chico and Anderson have already passed a similar sales tax increase. Measure A is said to pay for badly-needed infrastructure improvements and public safety.

Leah Roadrunner is a residential loan officer who says she trusts the people who put the measure together.

"Whether or not there are problems with the budget at City of Redding, we have just voted to look into those things, I think we should still look into those things, but also we know there's inflation, we know we have one of the lowest tax bases in the state, we know that it takes more to run a city, to run it well the way we want to as someone who helps people invest and live in Redding, California, I want to know that it's going to be safe, that there's going to be great parks. And I think it's us as city members taking the initiative to say, 'yes, you know what? I'm willing to pay a little more to have a great place to live,'" said Roadrunner.
