and
Jonathan Swan
Co-author, "Regime Change" / White House Reporter, The New York Times
"Unprecedented" is a word often used to describe the second Trump presidency. No sitting U.S. president has ever raked in billions in income, as President Trump did in 2025, raising alarm bells over self-enrichment and conflict of interest. He's also using executive power in unprecedented ways. From demolishing the East Wing of the White House without due oversight, to dismantling federal agencies, to waging war on Iran, Trump has reshaped America's image at home and abroad. A new book, "Regime Change," gives the inside scoop on the first 14 months of Trump's second term. More than 300,000 copies have sold since the book's release last week. Co-authors Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan, both journalists at The New York Times, join Christiane to discuss.

Rina Amiri
Former U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights
As President Trump looks for a way out of his war on Iran, the initial memorandum of understanding between the two countries appears to favor Tehran — just as negotiations to get the U.S. out of Afghanistan during the first Trump term worked to the advantage of the Taliban, the extremist Islamic group now in power. The Pakistani military and the Taliban have traded airstrikes, killing dozens of civilians over the past few days. The people of Afghanistan face the double bind of violence from abroad and the Taliban's repression at home, where the suffering is particularly great for women and girls. A new child marriage law has been enacted, and not only the U.S. but now the E.U. and neighboring Iran are cracking down on Afghan migrants. Rina Amiri is the former U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights. She joins Christiane from New York.

Anne Neuberger
General Partner and Head of Global Affairs, a16z / Former U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor
Experts warn that quantum computing could render today's encryption protections obsolete, exposing everything from government secrets to banking data. China and Russia's projects are already in motion. Former U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Anne Neuberger argues that the next global arms race won't be about missiles. It will be a battle for quantum supremacy. Neuberger joins Walter Isaacson to discuss the nature of quantum computing and what might be at stake.
