I am an experience birder and Savannah Sparrow was also my first impression. It looks too lean to be a chunkier Song Sparrow plus the streaking on the side of the breast looks to fine for Song Sparrow. Also, if you look really close there is a tiny bit of yellow in the lores.

I am NOT an experienced birder, just looked it up on All About Birds, and was curious if my inexperienced guess was right.
