My late Uncle, a Coast Guard veteran, served there when it was used as a lookout station for German submarines in WWII.

Interesting use of a limited palette: red, white, black, grey, brown. I did a watercolor of that same lighthouse for my sister's birthday present a few years ago but my rendtion had a lot of green.
