What an incredible photo! I think that it's the fact that it's waning gibbous that it looks like a sphere.

That dark crater at the top is one that I've been lucky enough to photograph numerous times. You've caught it magnificently!

The whole photo is simply brilliant.

Chilly winds made shooting a challenge tonight. The wind rocked my tripod and I had to carefully stabilize it with my right hand while manually focusing and operating the remote shutter release with my left.

I've lately been using a little trick when shooting the moon. I set the aperture at f11 and the ISO and shutter speed at 100 and 1/100, respectively.

You really had to battle the elements to achieve those remarkably good results! I'm impressed.

Hella weather in the Sierras. Was 40 mph gusts today, lightning and hail tonight.
