(154,512 posts)I like the colorful array the flowers make, plus their unusual shape.
We'll see what the folks in GD think!

(32,644 posts)because I wasn't really crazy about any of the Spring photos I took this year. So, I went looking through my files. Found the photo I finally submitted, but, I couldn't remember whether I might have used it in a previous Spring contest. Big no-no. So, using the DU search function I was able to find the Submissions threads for the Spring contests since I'd taken the photo. April Showers may be an old photo, but it's never been in a Spring contest!
I mention this in case anyone else finds themself in a similar situation. It is fun--and useful--to be able to search previous entries in our contests.

(97,339 posts)Don't know how I missed the last few. I was busy but I didn't think I was that busy.

(3,954 posts)I remembered that I entered a similar shot a year or two ago. It didn't do well.
Also, the competition is getting stiff this month.

(37,314 posts)Not terribly artistic, since the robin didn't cooperate and build her nest in a photogenic spot . . . it was in a waist-high light right outside the law school a few years ago. On the other hand, if she had built it somewhere else, I wouldn't have been able to document the entire egg to empty nest.

(41,436 posts)I watched her build that nest, flying back and forth with little bits of leaves for camouflage and cobwebs for flexibility. She hatched two eggs which fledged from that nest later. It was a deep shadow pretty much most of the day, but I would get about 15 minutes of sunlight on it sometimes.

(7,371 posts)I entered a shot I took of my garden yesterday. I wasn't really satisfied so I switched to one I took earlier today. I've got a lot of daisies this year!

(20,063 posts)Those black birds with the iridescent purple are called Grackles. Not Crackles.
They chase everything away on my feeder until they're done eating.
