(76,350 posts)...that came through our city to do the 3 band shows every Monday at the hockey rink.
We had backstage passes to every show & I can't remember a time when those guys weren't trashed.
Not surly drunks; still friendly, but wasted.
They used to smash those Gretsch Falcons at every shoe, then one summer we saw a guy gluing them back together.
They were not real Gretsch guitars. The were plywood facsimiles and they'd smash them, then glue them together.
I didn't yet play guitar then, but I noticed they only played those fakes for the last song. They probably weren't goodvenough to use all night.

(76,350 posts)We met lots of bands.
We had backstage passes every show (10-12 per year) for 4 summers.
My dad was tangentially involved with the production.
The local KCs got a cut of the gate, plus 4 backstage passes each week. Good deal for us teenagers.
We met Rare Earth, Blue Oyster Cult, Rufus, Bloodrock, BOA, Head East, Starcastle,....
Pretty fun.
