This is the Canonical Version of Oasis. May They Live Forever
The 2025 version of Oasis is the best weve seen. Rolling Stone AU/NZ was at their five-star show in Melbourne

The good news is, Oasis in 2025 sound amazing. Noels guitar might be the best a Gibson Les Paul has ever sounded a beautiful, warm, organic crunch. Theyre touring with three guitarists for the first time Mike Moore filling in for original guitarist Bonehead, whos undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, and 2000s band mainstays Gem Archer, and Andy Bell on bass. Joey Waronker, the bands first American member, is an accomplished session musician who understands that to drum in Oasis, you have to be a bit shit. He plays with a touch of finesse on the ballads, but adds no groove or swing to the rock songs giving them their signature plodding, almost drone-y heaviness.
Meanwhile, Liams at the top of his game. He doesnt go for every high note in Some Might Say or Slide Away, but he somehow sounds better than he did 20 years ago. Hes always been the bands most undefinable quality the rockstar who barely moves onstage, sings with a flat affect, and somehow draws out even more emotion from the crowd as a result. At one point, he gives a near-incomprehensible anecdote about smoking pot and a talking kangaroo. When the band takes over, he puts his signature tambourine in his mouth, and pounds his hand on his heart. You can feel the love.
The band opens with nine rockers in a row. Morning Glory and Some Might Say soar, while Bring It on Down, Cigarettes & Alcohol and Supersonic still have that Definitely Maybe grit and dirt, even in a stadium. But it wouldnt be an Oasis gig without their softer side, and when they pull back into Talk Tonight, Half the World Away and Little by Little, Noel finally gets his moment to shine. His voice is truly ageless as lovely as it was 30 years ago.

The Oasis we see tonight isnt the band of Knebworth 1996, when they were creating their legend and their notoriety in real-time. If you couldnt be there, perhaps the next best thing is to be here now, amongst the generations whove kept their music alive. While were living / The dreams we have as children fade away, they sing but not tonight.
The review refers briefly to "Liam berating a fan for letting off a flare during Champagne Supernova" - and he had much more to say about that fan, who'd thrown the flare, later on X: https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/oasis-melbourne-show-liam-gallagher-slams-fan-1236103183/

This is one of the silly stories he started telling during the North American leg of the tour, about being told by a person, or later an animal (at the Rose Bowl it was a shark the first night, a crab the second), that the non-British audience wouldn't do the Poznan for Cigarettes & Alcohol.

The reunion of Oasis, of the long-feuding Gallagher brothers, isnt so much the stuff of legend, a surprise no one saw coming, or a comeback of the ages. Chalk it down as a rock n roll miracle.

This older, mature version of Liam is chattier than the chap we remember, and much less surly. Now aged 53, he loves a bit of banter. Theres a silly story about bumping into Drew The Kangaroo on a walk at the seaside, and regular words of encouragement to the audience.

Noels guitar work is note perfect. Each solo, complete and exact. The Gallaghers, when theyre sharing the stage, dont tread on each others toes. But, importantly, theyre fully committed, and generous.

The Manchester rockers have always drawn a crowd. All seven of their studio albums hit No. 1 on the Official U.K. Chart, as did their 2010 hits compilation, Time Flies 1994-2009 for a total of eight leaders. Along the way, the rockers have collected six BRIT Awards, including the Outstanding Contribution to British Music, two Ivor Novellos, and 17 NME Awards. Some 18 million people applied for tickets when dates for this world tour were first announced, with 2.6 million fans securing entry to the show. The only thing missing is entry in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. That will come.
