marble falls
(73,619 posts)... I'm having trouble finding someone to re-cone my BA speakers. I miss my Sherwood and my Thorens, my Shure SME, my Ordifon cartridge and needle. Sorry gor the whine.
I wonder if China might be making them. But my friends swore by Soviet tubes.

(77,714 posts)I had to look it up.
It was a beast! 163 tubes; over 500 pounds.
Had a series of envelope followers to shape sounds plus adjustable frequency filters. Way ahead of its time.
They did make a thousand of them but I never heard one before.
Pretty cool!
