(298,531 posts)Decades ago when a close family member died, I was bawling on my bed and there was mummy cat licking my face and making sounds.
I could not believe it and then it hit me that she had never ever seen me crying.

(2,147 posts)I have had dogs most of my life, small dogs, poodles when I was young, and bichons once I became an adult. I'm a baby boomer, so that covers a lot of years. My pets have always shown me unconditional love, loyalty and compassion. They have been there through some of the best and worst times of my life.
I honestly believe the love of a pet is a true blessing. I am glad your cat was with you to be of comfort at such a sad time in your life.
