In 1966 when the song came out I was driving a 1959 TR-3 that was black with a black interior and a black top.

That was my song.

In November of that year I ordered a brand new special order 1967 TR4-A with an overdrive 4 speed transmission that gave me 7 forward gears, independent rear suspension, dual SU carburetor worth 4 extra horsepower...and a black exterior, black interior and a black convertible top.

Go ahead, guess what my favorite song of that era was.

"Discovered" Don Ellis in high school (he died only a few years later) and the Kenton progressive albums -- we played some of those tunes in Stage Band.

Oh, also Also Sprach Zarathustra (Mehta and the LA Philly w/ Roger Bobo on tuba) and Finlandia (organ or orchestra).

anything from Slippery When Wet and then New Jersey when it was released. She didn't really care for my AC/DC tapes and whatnot, so I compromised a lot. When I was sans the girlfriend for the day or evening, it would have been anything off Back In Black or License to Ill/Paul's Boutique.

She didn't really care for those either, which meant we could never marry. Ah to be young again.

I've loved LOUD music my entire life. A little bit less now that I'm old (and don't drink much), but many people my age say I'm blasting the tunes when to me it's normal listening volume.

ATM I'm sitting in the middle of a 4.1 system that can hit you like you're standing next to a speaker in a NYC nightclub at 11:50pm on New Years Eve, but sounds many times better.

Early songs I remember blasting when I was like 7-8 years old: Honky Cat + All of Side 1 of Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. A Little Help From My Friends. Smackwater Jack. Down by the Lazy River. And pretty much all Creedence songs.
