Radio contact with a mobile radio in the Everglades

A "Parks On The Air" (POTA) station, where hams go into parks and transmit, the idea being to see how many of the national parks one can log.

This was on the 10 meter band, upper side band. (USB).

The challenge is that mobile stations typically operate on much lower power, making contact .more difficult.

The usefulness of these type of mobile stations in the event of emergency or disaster is evident.

And in other pics I didn't post, he drives an airboat.

I believe it is to keep insects off.
