I have nothing against the clubs, per se. There was one in Des Moines that had three levels: The dance/bar area, an arcade and a movie theatre. It was cool. It’s the insipid music I hated. It sowed the seeds of its own destruction within less than five years.

If we could have that again when we get tired of it, I might go for it.

Although when discos were hot I could find 4-5 folk music clubs at the same time with singer-songwriters LOCALLY who were terrific. And laid back people for company.

I loved the beat. I loved the silliness of it. And I LOVED dancing to disco songs in Jazzercise classes!

Plus, disco killed Top 40 radio. I will never forgive that.

And then there was "Saturday Night Fever." It was awful in such a great way!

which were playing Top 40. Top 40 radio was not a musical format; it played whatever was selling, whether it was rock, pop, Motown, country, big band, show tunes, jazz etc. It was largely a melting pot; most people listened to it because there was usually something on that they liked.

FM started niche programming. Disco was the niche of the moment. People who loved disco went to the FM stations that were playing it nonstop. AM Top 40 stations tried to counter by adding more disco. That pissed off the people who hated disco, and didn’t attract the disco lovers, because they could listen in stereo on FM. Top 40 stations lost listeners from both ends of the spectrum.

By the early 80s, many Top 40 stations were changing format, ironically, at the same time disco was flaming out because people were getting sick of how repetitive it was.

Heck, recriminalize weed. Loved the feeling of hiding with friends, breaking the law, etc.

We won a few disco contests, even qualifying for a big event in Chicago. We got smoked up there, though.

I think discos had all sorts of reputations (good/bad left up to the individual) for "whatnot" in their day.

The “Peoples Ball Room” coming soon, AI will make amazing computer venerated music, like original, and Don can provide the Coke that they seize from small fishing boats from Cartels.
Trump and Maxwell can stand to the side scouting little girls, biting their lip while swaying, and Kegsbreath can stand in for Epstein.

And young people now miss out on the experience of meeting people without online meetups. Dancing was fun !

I hated discos in the 70s and I haven't changed my opinion. Flashing lights trigger migraines, so it's a hard pass for me.

Ballcaps look silly to me. Driving caps would be a nice comeback too.

I also have a leather racing cap as well as a leather 'Greek fisherman's hat'!

I do have several ball caps, but they are for working and doing things that I don't care about damage. (Except my company ball cap that I had made... that one I wear often.)
