(463 posts)Isn't really all that early, some stores here have had Christmas decorations since the end of August!
For our, objectively, somewhat early start to Christmastide/Solsticetide, we're making homemade chicken-n-tater soup for supper

(23,572 posts)When I was growing up we never had our tree up until the last 2 weeks of December.
We had live trees from somebody's farm and my mom did not want the shedding and aroma in the house any longer than necessary. The tree always came down on New Year's Day.
As we get older, the less inclined we are to do much decorating. We have a small pre-lit tree that is easy to put up so we will do that. Mr YD likes to put a model train to run around under the tree. The cats do not know what to think of that! Once in a while I will throw some lights on our shrubbery and hang a wreath on the porch.
I think I just do not want another project to bring down from the attic, arrange and then pack up and take it back!!!
