(7,992 posts)That sounds pretty good, but I'd have to change everything else up. I'm usually a mayo on sandwich bread with lots of pepper...
But cream cheese would required a stronger bread (I usually have those little baguettes on hand) and then something to counter the cream cheese a bit... I'm thinking mint jelly? (Haven't had that in years.) Or maybe one of those little jars of spicy pepper jelly.
justaprogressive
(6,062 posts)now in your mind, change that little sandwich into a SUB!
Let that cream cheese warm up and it will spread like Par-Kay!
My personal favorite to offset the cream cheese is
Italian hot red pepper relish which sets off both the
cream cheese and the meat!
You don't have to use much let your taste buds be your guide!

(12,432 posts)As a kid we used MW
of course we also ate Swanson TV dinners
Dinty Moore Beef Stew from the can, La Choy canned vegetables mixed with soy sauce for a weird kinda stirfry
the we got to be adults and had to figger out dinner on our own
for the rest of our lives.
As we got older tastes changed
hopefully for the better.
Still rather have chicken than turkey.

(9,919 posts)When I was growing up, my family used a wonderful condiment called Durkees.
I just googled it and it's still made (although sometimes it's hard to find). I haven't used it since I left home as a teenager. I wonder if it's as good as I remember.

so my first inclination is that. However, Ive been vegan for a loooooong time now and Im pretty happy with Hellmans vegan mayo. If I make coleslaw, I do add a little sugar, which makes it closer to what I remember.
And now Im hungry for coleslawin a week where Im already going to be in the kitchen making more than we can eat (pumpkin and apple pies, bread, and Ive already made my home-grown Tofurkey). Im not sure I really need to add another item
though that would make a good side for the sandwiches!

(2,477 posts)I'd like to try this Duke's you speak of but I'm not sure it's here in AZ.
Kewpie is bomb on sandwiches. Has MSG though that's probably why it's so delicious.
I usually make panini's on sourdough with leftover (barbequed on the Weber) turkey, bacon (costco or hempler's, usually), sweet&spicy mustard, pepper jack, thin sliced onion, and pepperoncini (that's all heated in the press). Then I add some Kewpie, shredded iceberg, and tomato slices after its done toasting.
