Do all county Democratic Party meetings begin with a prayer?

I don’t know where I should be asking this.
A new Democrat to our county attended a meeting with our Governor candidate, Deb Haaland (former Secretary of the Interior).
The new woman was angry because a prayer was given at the beginning of the program. She was adamant that no prayers should be said.
I’ve only been to Democratic Party meetings in New Mexico and never thought about questioning the prayer that begins every state and county Democratic.
Is that standard?
