When I want to buy real printed-on-paper books, I frequently do so from Amazon, but I was always mistrustful of the reality of e-books, and was proven right recently when the God of All Macs snuck into my e-library function one night and emptied nearly all of it to “recover unused space. “

The good news is that my very oldest iPad is now incapable of being upgraded any more, with or without my permission (according to hubby, my in-house tech support) so all my oldest and most favorite e-books are safe.

As for the Kindle, it has gotten a whole new life, as hubby has discovered free sources for chess games, math games, and other esoterica.
