I'd never heard of William White. Thirst Trap -documentary

Tagline is something like “He took over the internet…..and your Mom”

Good looking 20 year old guy who lip synced songs. Middle aged women (mostly) threw money at him for personalized messages. This was 2020 in the midst of the pandemic.

Then, the staking.

Curious what happens to William White in Thirst Trap: The Fame. The Fantasy. The Fallout? As the documentary unfolds, the story takes a sharp turn that exposes the darker side of his rise to online fame and the chaotic fallout within his fanbase. Director Lisa Rideout wastes no time revealing how blurred boundaries and personal entanglements reshaped the stakes for both White and his supporters.

Here is what the film uncovers about White’s journey and how it redefined his public image.

The series shows how fans sent money through TikTok Live and PayPal. Many contributed in exchange for William acknowledging them during streams. Boundaries blurred when William began a sexual relationship with one of his followers, referred to as “DisneyMama.”

The revelation sparked jealousy and infighting in his fandom. It escalated to leaked intimate images and the eventual collapse of his fan community. White said he felt unable to trust anyone and believed he had to fight for his survival.
