The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsGood morning my enthusiastic DU family,
Today I begin Cardiac Rehab to help with my quadruple bypass recovery. I've been anxious as all get out this weekend because I'm afraid my back won't be able to handle it.
After a up and down night, I've come back to two things: I can't control what I can't control and my attitude really does highly impact my results in life.
Please have a day filled with opportunities to choose your best self to face a challenge with and to be as kind to that person as you would a neighbor also trying. Have a successful day!
Love, John

(57,301 posts)I'm actually excited for your rehab.
Have no fear about the back pain. The therapists, if they're good, will take it into consideration, and the movement from the cardiac activities will probably actually help with the back pain.
The trick with back pain is where it radiates. If you have soreness or even a slight increase in the back pain, notice where it radiates. If the area of radiation is getting smaller, that means the condition is improving and you'll soon have relief. Keep your therapist in the loop on that. If the pain begins to radiate farther out from your back (like farther down the leg for example) tell them, and ease up.
