(36,759 posts)It's so hard to leave everything you've worked for all your life behind. It feels like a betrayal, being put into that position. Right now we can afford to live modestly here on my pension and social security, but there no longer seems much security here otherwise. We could certainly do better somewhere less expensive, but we won't be exclusively economic migrants if we leave. My daughter and her husband have already immigrated to the UK. My wife is starting a year+ of chemotherapy and immunotherapy next week, so there's that to consider too. She has been predicting we'll have to leave since last November, but I've resisted. Now, I don't know. I don't want to live in a fascist country, though. We've renewed our passports just in case.

(9,823 posts)I and a group of four friends have thought about where we'd go. We've watched videos on a few different countries. One was Panama. I just want to feel that I can get out if I can't stand it anymore.
Thank you for your video...

Im crossing my fingers that everything goes smoothly. Ive had mixed reactions. Everything from Youll have a great time to Why not Mexico? (or Costa Rica) to Colombia is dangerous to Are you sure you want to go by yourself. My daughter is especially scared for me.
