I have had a few, but the most recent one was this: So my HP computer, due to it bring dropped a lot, was barely hanging on (i.e. the monitor was barely hanging on to the base of the computer), and when I moved to Orlando, I got rid of it. I got a refurbished computer from Amazon. Turns out, it couldn't go to Windows 11, and not only that, it had a thing where it was stuck with the volume down button. It basically was like someone holding down the volume down button. Well, now the battery no longer works, and the computer I have right now is barely hanging on in terms of its charger slot. Hence, I am trying to get a computer as soon as I can.

(1,512 posts)Heck, if I'm lucky, my computer can last maybe an hour without having to charge. Much of the time, I don't even get 45 minutes. The charge socket is so loose that I have to put it in a certain position to keep it charged. I have gotten Chromebooks before, but while they do last a while, I went through I think 3 of them. It ended up being the charge socket that did them in and the fact that many of the software I would use doesn't work on it.

OMG.........I absolutely know what that's like having to put the plug in the port and holding it in a position where it will stay.
Fortunately, I was able to get a new computer from a gal who has her own company and is there whenever I need her. She's an angel.
Computer problems can be sooooooooo trying.......

(21,917 posts)My husband bought a VW van for a couple hundred dollars. It was located about 40 miles from our town. I think one of our friends must have driven us to look at it and dropped us off, because I didn't have a driver's license then. We got there and looked it over. Rough body under a bright orange spray paint job. A tick in the motor the guy assured us was nothing serious. I didn't want to take a chance, but for some reason, my car crazy husband thought a bright orange VW van with an iffy motor was something he had to have. It broke down about 10 miles from where we bought it, and we had to have it towed to our house. It sat in the yard there for a year, and then we traded it on a '63 Chrysler 4 door sedan that was a much better deal. While we were broke down, 3 carloads of my husband's relatives came along, returning from a visit to his grandparents. After the initial concern, subsequent razzing and laughter, somebody got to a phone and called for the tow.
