(75,859 posts)It was in the Delta lounge in Atlanta. He and his backup singers were traveling to Chicago for an appearance on local TV.
He was a crazy sucker. First, he was speaking in a British accent. He was born & raised in Florida.
Then, the accent went away & he was just an odd duck, flitting from topic to topic, most of which he had no knowledge.
His backup singers told us to excuse & ignore him because he's always like that.
They were as nice as could be, but he was just weird.

(75,859 posts)Just stealing from you. I Can See Clearly... is another good choice.
But, the Katrina tune is just a purely happy song.
And, then one I thought of while listening to that video. And, it's not the lyrics; there are none!

(12,671 posts)This song became true, the first time I saw the face of my now wife of 52 years. I was at the gym a few years ago and whatever was playing over the sound system sampled a part of that song. My trainer wanted to know why I was grinning.

(1,108 posts)by Katrina and the Waves. This was England's entry into the 1997 European Song Contest. BBC Radio held a contest for their listeners to pick England's entry and they won. They went on to win with the most votes ever received for a song. Each country got a certain number of votes and could divide their vote, if they wanted to, among the contestants. To a degree, the contest is political in that countries who were at odd with each other if one country voted for a song the other country would deliberately vote for another song. In 1997, Love Shine a Light broke a lot of those divisions down.
