Words that were first used in the year you were born. Just found this on the intertoobs from Merrian-Webster's.....

My birth year, 1947, introduced apartheid, afterburner, bikini, bank card, counterculture, fair trade, flight attendant, flying saucer, hydrogen bomb, kibbutznik, methadone, Negroni, party-pooper, role-model, red carpet, swim fin, spinal tap (not the band) and strip search. Also new that year was "flop sweat" which does surprise me.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, since even portions of our armed forces were segregated back then. I guess better late than never.

It is an interesting site.
