(11,924 posts)A song about my wife and I, no not really but I always think of her.
Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

Also "Sun King" originally titled "Here Comes the Sun King" but later changed so it would't be confused with Harrison's song

(1,191 posts)Mars, the Bringer of War is my hands down favorite movement. It was also a big inspiration for John Williams and his first Star Wars score.

(1,309 posts)Mainly because I never knew jollity was a word.
Holst wrote this suite in 1916. Pluto wasn't discovered until 1930, and was considered a planet until it was unceremoniously demoted in 2006. I wonder what Holst would have written for Pluto. What he wrote for Uranus was rather animated (Uranus, the magician). I'm betting he would have written something very barren for Pluto.
And in the headline of 2025, so far, we have
snicker, snicker.
https://www.sciencenews.org/article/uranus-energy-planet-sun
As an orchestra musician, I have probably played that suite 5 or 6 times. That is one that never gets stale for me. The whole suite is an excellent musical adventure. I hope I can do it a couple more times before I retire from playing.

(6,869 posts)Hear that lonesome whippoorwill
He sounds too blue to fly
The midnight train is whining low
I'm so lonesome, I could cry
I've never seen a night so long
And time goes crawling by
The moon just went behind the clouds
To hide its face and cry
Did you ever see a robin weep
When leaves begin to die?
Like me, he's lost the will to live
I'm so lonesome, I could cry
The silence of a falling star
Lights up a purple sky
And as I wonder where you are
I'm so lonesome, I could cry

Subaru
Subaru is the Japanese name for the star group called the Pleiades or the Seven Sisters.
https://m.
Obscure fact. Legend/tradition has it that the Pleiades was used as a vision test way back. Discerning five stars was normal vision. If you could see six or seven, you qualified to be an archer or a scout.
