Like a pilot going through a checklist.

1. Climb into pre-flight, launch position. CHECK!
2. Open elytra. CHECK!
3. Extend right wing. CHECK!
4. Extend left wing. CHECK!
5. Commence wingbeats. CHECK!
6. Take-off. CHECK!

one of most incredible things I've ever seen.

The only thing that rivals it is what happened to me last year in March. I am a gardener and in fact bought my house/property because it had beautiful potential for gardening.

I was in a town just south of mine and was sitting at a traffic light in a downtown area. The daffodils had just come out and of course I was thinking about gardening.

My car window was partially open, about 2 inches. A ladybug flew in! She landed on my dash and walked around. I opened the window farther and about five more flew in! Then I looked out my front window and at the top of my car windshield were around 30 ladybugs crawling around. I took a picture which I still have, but it's hard to tell they are ladybugs because of the angle at which I took it.

Decades ago when I bought this house and we walked through it after the closing, trying to decide what to do first, I was amazed to see hundreds of ladybugs crawling all over a window at the east end of the house. I said this was Mother Nature's way of welcoming me to my new gardens.
