I found it useful for following breaking news like the earthquake in Haiti, but absolutely useless as a source to cite.

I've found a lot of breaking news on dodgy sites elsewhere since then, and waiting hours for confirmation on a real site is really annoying, but I don't have a staff of fact checkers with enough contacts to vet a story, so I wait until a real site posts it.

I'm not surprised that Xitter has turned into a GRU disinformation playhouse. Musk has turned a bad site into a sewer.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
