in Sweden (with some substantial funding from our own NIH, I might add) and Drexel University, which showed no such correlation with autism and acetaminophen use during pregnancy.
By the way, the Japanese have completed a very similar study wherein more than 40% of mothers reported using acetaminophen during pregnancy with no evidence of a correlated increase in autism in their children (in the Swedish study, only 10% of mothers reported using Tylenol). https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ppe.70071
Want to know what HAS been associated? More than 400 genes and gene combinations (hereditary); Advanced age of BOTH the biological mother AND/OR father; Maternal stress; the anti-seizure medication valproic acid (Depakote); Inflammation during the critical development period in the mother (e.g., including from potential acute viral infection and FEVER, chronic exposure to air pollutants, microplastics, and malnutrition); Maternal diabetes during pregnancy; Other pharmaceuticals including SSRIS and some others under investigation; some synthetic vitamins have been looked at... no conclusive findings..
AND, about a zillion other environmental exposures may well be additive (synergistic) to other factors.
Tylenol? Does not even rise to the top of the "should receive further study" list. The Swedish and Japanese studies were well-conducted and controlled for the competing influences of some of the known factors mentioned above.
