Btw does Trump know that gasoline prices are a result in a large part from the price
of oil and that oil is a traded commodity in things called oil price futures and that his
war to hide the Epstein files w/Iran the price of oil has gone up and that there is a
world wide shortage of oil too including in America too?

..................
President Donald Trump demanded on Monday that gasoline retailers cut pump prices immediately, warning of “big problems” if they fail to act, as he urged companies to move faster after crude oil prices retreated from wartime highs.

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that “Gasoline Retailers must get their Prices down, IMMEDIATELY,” adding that “There will be no gauging, which is totally illegal.” He told retailers to “Start targeting around the $2.50 a Gallon number.”

...................

The message followed comments from days earlier in which Trump said he had instructed the Department of Justice to investigate oil companies for failing to lower gasoline prices in line with falling crude costs, accusing them of gouging consumers................................

As of Monday, AAA listed the national average for regular gasoline at $3.86 a gallon, down from about $4.50 in recent months. California averaged roughly $5.45 a gallon, a $1.59 premium over the national average. The state has the highest gasoline-related costs in the country, with excise taxes, cap-and-trade costs, low-carbon fuel rules and local sales taxes adding roughly $1.20 to $1.47 per gallon.

With gasoline prices poised to reach a new all-time high within days, President Joe Biden recently issued a stern warning to the nation's oil producers and gas retailers.

"American oil and gas companies should not – should not exploit this moment to hike their prices to raise profits," Biden said in a speech.
Biden's beef with the energy industry isn't new.

In November, the president, under growing criticism for contributing to inflation that's been hovering at a 40-year high, asked the Federal Trade Commission to investigate "mounting evidence of anti-consumer behavior by oil and gas companies."

"The bottom line is this: gasoline prices at the pump remain high, even though oil and gas companies' costs are declining," Biden said in a letter to FTC Chair Lina Kahn.

Tue Jun 30, 2026, 02:32 PM

"It is true that a lot of what's driving oil prices up right now is not the lack of supply. There's enough supply. There's enough oil out there for world demand," Obama said.

"The problem is ... speculators and people make various bets, and they say, you know what, we think that maybe there's a 20 percent chance that something might happen in the Middle East that might disrupt oil supply, so we're going to bet that oil is going to go up real high. And that spikes up prices significantly."

U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu said on Tuesday he was concerned that rising crude oil and gasoline prices could undermine U.S. economic recovery.
Obama said the U.S. government was in a position to investigate unfair speculation.

Two U.S. agencies that investigate potential energy market manipulation -- the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) -- recently agreed to share information on potential probes. We're going to be monitoring gas stations to make sure there isn't any price gouging that's taking advantage of consumers," Obama said.

He made 2 cents per gallon when gas was about 28 cents. So he was buying gas at 26 cents per gallon. Extrapolating to today where gas is around $4. a private station owner makes about 30 cents per gallon. Around here the private stations already have the lowest prices. The gas in their tanks is full of gallons bought at different prices. They ain't gonna lower the price.

Tue Jun 30, 2026, 10:21 AM

He means for him and the economy.

Fuel prices are artificially down mainly due to China not currently importing oil.

Don't be fooled by the futures price of oil dropping. This is pure market manipulation.

The fact is oil inventory around the globe is dropping to tank bottom and nothing, not even the orange asshole is going to stop the global effects from starting and cascading over the next several weeks. Oil executives warned us of this starting by July 4th and I think they know what they are talking about.

I expect that after the holiday you will start to see gas prices begin to climb again while inflation continues to climb out of control.

In short, we are fucked.

GOP looks vulnerable to me at this time, he lost an unpopular (and un-American) war of aggression against an exponentially weaker nation, prices across the board are dramatically up and he's been going on about ballrooms and celebrations.

my guess is this little trumper e-tantrum of his is just him placating the reps and sens begging him not to screw up November more than he already has.
