Nancy Sinatra, the eldest daughter of the late crooner Frank Sinatra, has condemned Donald Trumps use of her fathers music. Over the weekend, the president shared a clip of Franks 1978 live performance of his hit ballad My Way at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Truth Social.
A screengrab of Trumps post was shared on X by multiple people, including one who tagged Nancy, writing: Omg, @NancySinatra will not be happy about this. Trump goes against everything that Frank stood for. He was a big champion for equality and supported the Civil Rights movement.. Nancy, 85, responded: This is a sacrilege.
Replying to another person who asked if there was any legal action she could take against the president, the These Boots Are Made for Walkin singer said: Unfortunately no. The only people who can do something are the publishers.
Nancy is one of three children belonging to Frank and his first wife, Nancy Barbato. The pair, who were married from 1939 to 1951, also had son Frank Jr., who died in 2016, and daughter Tina, 77. Frank passed away in 1998 at the age of 82. According to Nancy, the Fly Me to the Moon singer loathed Trump. Last December, Nancy replied to a video on X purporting to show ICE officers harassing Latino construction workers. This is not my fathers America, she wrote. He would be devastated. Trump is so wrong in so many ways.

(55,099 posts)BTW, this could be Trump's slap back at Frank Sinatra from years ago. (He never forgets a slight.)
Frank Sinatra and Donald Trump had a contentious relationship stemming from a failed 1990 contract renegotiation for the opening of Trumps Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City. After a Trump executive died, Trump tried to reduce Sinatras fee and cancel other acts, leading Sinatra to tell his manager to tell Trump to "go f--- himself" and play elsewhere.
Key details regarding this incident include:
The 1990 Dispute: Sinatra was originally booked to open the Taj Mahal, but Trump attempted to renegotiate the deal after the death of his business partner, Mark Grossinger Etess, labeling the original terms "a little rich".
The Threat: According to manager Eliot Weisman, Sinatra told him to either tell Trump to "go f--k himself" or give him Trump's phone number to do it personally.
Alternative Booking: Sinatra subsequently performed at The Sands Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas instead of the Taj Mahal.
Long-term Animosity: Nancy Sinatra, Frank's daughter, has stated that her father "loathed" Donald Trump and described her fathers attitude toward him as one of deep dislike.

(41,973 posts)I believe that Taj Mahal incident was around the time Chump fired his own brother from managing the hotel and casino, am I right?
That's how he stepped in and completely messed up the negotiations with the entertainment at the casino. Of course it went bankrupt because Chump is awful at running everything. Even back in those days, Chump would do anything ... ANYTHING! ... to get headlines and media notice. What an asshole.

(170,802 posts)that 45 ALSO had a long-running dispute with Merv Griffin around that time, about a decade after gambling was first legalized in Atlantic City.
Since Philly is the media market for South Jersey, that whole fiasco was all in the news here regarding what became of Resorts Casino (where Griffin won the rights to it over 45).
I remember not long after Resorts opened in '78, my mom wanted to go down there to see it. So they had promotions where you could ride their bus for $20 from Philly to AC and then they would hand you 2, $10 rolls of quarters once you arrived (so the fare was free). It's like a 90 minute ride down the AC Expressway (and the senior citizens back then used to go down there daily, bringing their own stools to sit in front of their favorite slots). We walked around inside and saw all the brand new slot machines (and they allowed kids inside at that time too for promotional purposes)!

(26,239 posts)Nancy's anger over TSF using it.
The song is a man's assessment of his life as he faces his own mortality. When a man as mentally unstable as TSF publicly posts a song like that, it could be a combination of braggadocio and a threat.
ETA: Think of what these words mean to TSF, in his own mind and perspective.

(26,239 posts)He is all about defiance and having to win, never giving in.
In other words, "doing it my way" could mean going out with a bang. Something spectacular and destructive. What's he got to lose if he's dying anyway? Why not do it his way? But what does "his way" mean?
