Mike Lindell, MyPillow CEO, a candidate for Minnesota governor and a notorious ally of President Donald Trump, was served with legal documents during a live TV interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Gaylord, Texas, on Thursday. Lindell was speaking with a reporter from the far-right news outlet One America News when a woman interrupted the interview.
Hi, sorry to interrupt, the unidentified woman said. Were on TV here, please, Lindell repeatedly said while trying to shove the women out of frame.
I know, youve been served, the woman replied, even as Lindell refused to take the documents she tried to hand him. What are you serving him with? the OAN reporter asked the woman.
Youve been served, so you have to take this. Thank you, the woman said to Lindell. After much back-and-forth, Lindell finally grabbed the papers and tossed them on the floor.

(4,112 posts)Most Americans are aware of process servers, seeing them in the movies or on television pretending to be delivering pizza, handing over papers, and announcing, Youve been served. It is not surprising that people that know theyre in trouble with the law, on the receiving end of a divorce, or on the brink of foreclosure go to great lengths to avoid process servers. They may never answer the door, or they answer the door but insist they are somebody else. Others may hide in the closet until the process server leaves or hide out at a family members home. These measures may be successful in preventing personal service, but they will not be helpful at all in preventing legal actions from going forward against them. Its not illegal to avoid being served with a process, but it is rarely advantageous. In some cases, it can result in court orders and decisions being made without your knowledge, and it always results in longer and more expensive litigations. The additional fees and expenses caused by avoiding service, such as multiple service charges for process server attempts, can be charged to the person that avoids being served.

(40,135 posts)after documented multiple attempts to serve the person evades refuses to answer the door etc,
A process may be affixed (posted) to a premise. I used to keep roofing nails handy. They are harder to pull out and usually if they tear a process off pieces remain under the nail.
This was back in the days before cell phones w/cameras , we had to fill out additional affidavits for the courts.

(20,818 posts)in my youth. I was unemployed for about 1 month in the early 70s and my Dad - who was a New York State Judge - got me a process server job. I think I made $7 for each one I served, which was pretty good money in the 70s.
I hated every minute of it. Serving subpoenas on people for things I was doing myself (that my Dad didn't know about) made me feel like a major hypocrite. I didn't last the week.
