Judge orders 5-year-old Liam Ramos and his father be released from immigration detention
Source: CNN
A federal judge has ordered the release of 5-year-old Liam Conejos Ramos and his father from the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley, Texas, according to a ruling obtained by CNN.
...
The order specifies the preschooler and his father be released as soon as practicable and no later than Tuesday as their immigration case proceeds through the court system. The ruling, shared with CNN by the judges courtroom deputy, was first reported by the San Antonio Express-News.
In a scathing opinion, which at times read more like a civics lesson, US District Judge Fred Biery admonished the governments ignorance of an American historical document called the Declaration of Independence and quoted Thomas Jeffersons grievances against a would-be authoritarian king, saying today people are hearing echos of that history.
Liams case, Biery wrote, originated in the ill-conceived and incompetently-implemented government pursuit of daily deportation quotas, apparently even if it requires traumatizing children.

In a sharply worded statement, U.S. District Judge Fred Biery said the administrative warrants issued by the executive branch to its own agents do not pass probable cause muster.
That is called the fox guarding the henhouse, he wrote. The Constitution requires an independent judicial officer.
Below his signature, the judge also included the now well-known photo of Ramos as he was taken into custody wearing a Spider-Man backpack and a bright blue hat. The photo and Liams detainment sparked outrage across the country and further inflamed tensions between Minnesota residents and the Trump administrations immigration enforcement efforts there.,.....
The detention of children at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley has drawn mounting backlash in recent weeks. Outside the heavily secured compound on Wednesday, hundreds of faith leaders, labor organizers and advocates marched toward the detention center, calling for the release of families held inside.
In a statement Saturday afternoon, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) thanked people across the country and world for speaking out in support of Liam and so many other children in detention. He added that he had also reached out to Liams mom and lawyers to tell them he would continue to do everything I can to make sure he is safe.

That means they are legal.
In their wholesale hate-fest, ICE has been following the Bannon philosophy,
Move Fast and Break Things.
This Lord of the Flies mentality is birthed from racism and a 'might over right' attitude, to stun, sow chaos and destroy. You can get away with lots of stuff for awhile. But, people figure you out, and counter your BS.
ICE was snatching migrants, legal or not, and throwing them on a plane to a secret location the next day.
There are legal categories of migrants in the US.
(AI Overview)
Legal categories for migrants, primarily defined by U.S. law, include
1. Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders),
2. non-immigrants (temporary visitors/workers),
3. refugees/asylees (humanitarian protection), and
4.undocumented/irregular migrants.
These statuses are subdivided into family-based, employment-based, and humanitarian pathways."
They ignored all these important distinctions.
Someone seeking asylum because drug lords rule their country is legally here and is protected. A sharp contrast to a vacationer overstaying their visa or a serial killer jumping the fence one night.
When sanity prevails again, every one of these people should be given the chance to return.
