Longtime House Republican eyes Texas seat due to California redistricting: report

Source: Raw Story

December 1, 2025 4:23PM ET

Longtime Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) was reportedly considering a run for Congress in Texas if the Supreme Court upholds new district maps in California.

The new map approved by California voters would eliminate Issa's San Diego-area seat if the Supreme Court upholds it.

On Monday, Punchbowl News reported that Issa was eyeing a seat near Dallas if the ruling does not go his way.

In a recent statement, Issa insisted he would run again regardless of what the court decides.

How can he run in Tx if he lives in CA? I think someone labeled him "carpetbagger" and if I remember my history correctly, that seems to fit.

Issa is another one of those repubs you just have to hate... there are no redeeming qualities whatsoever...

Odd, but the Constitution spells it out clearly.

Article I, Section 2, Clause 2:

“No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.“

He’s my representative….and I cannot wait for him to leave. He’s useless…Temecula is less red than it was when we first moved here In ‘89. This just might be the thing we need to get a democrat in here. Not going to hold my breath. Prior to him, our rep was Ken Calvert. So odd that Issa has our city anyway because he’s from way south of here, Alpine. Southern San Diego county. Calvert is another that needs to go. These two grifters have gotten enough from the government. Calvert more than 30 years I think…. I hope redistricting slims down his district and maybe getting him to think of retirement! Another worthless rep.
