Racists are now openly targeting Indian Americans

Last month, FBI Director Kash Patel wished his followers on X a happy Diwali. It did not go over well.

Far-right Christian nationalist and white nationalist accounts flooded his post with bigoted memes and rhetoric. “Go back home and worship your sand demons,” a far-right pastor wrote. “Get the f**k out of my country,” read another reply. Said another, “This is America. We don’t do this.” These responses, some of which were seen millions of times, were on the tamer end of the spectrum.

Similar hostility followed Diwali greetings on X from former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon, as well as posts about the holiday from the White House, the State Department, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Some Indian American conservatives seem shocked that segments of the political right are now taking aim at them. When Democrats won big on election night, Ramaswamy advised Republicans to “cut out the identity politics,” saying “we don’t care about the color of your skin or your religion. We care about the content of your character.” After one X user said that the existence of Indians disgusted them, Dinesh D’Souza, the right-wing commentator who has peddled racism against Black Americans for decades, mused: “In a career spanning 40 years, I have never encountered this type of rhetoric. The Right never used to talk like this. So who on our side has legitimized this type of vile degradation?”

Distort DeNooza's ass didn't come here to the U.S. until 1976. Welcome to America.

I keep saying it over and over and over - that "overlay" has always been there and now it is overwhelming everything.

3. Every ethnic group has felt this hatred. Only now is it encouraged by the social media platforms.

Italians, Irish, Spanish/heritage, native Americans, even Polish, Scandinavians, ....

Seems that the groups that don't get painted with the tar brush are the mainly English heritage.

And I'll guess that most of the magats identify a being from that neck of the old world.

Have they never read any history books. First they came for…. They can’t stop because if they do they either lose power or the forces come for them. No one is safe except, perhaps, white well to do males. History is one repeating story after another. And it mostly isn’t pretty.

GOP'rs would have been appalled! 🙄

Bought a pretty scarf, and bangles. Ate yummy food (one of my favorite cuisines). Then several hours of entertainment on stage. Singers, dancers. And they broadcasted it to India.
A wonderful event!

11. Vivek Ramaswamy is going to find out just how bad it is here in Ohio

Outside of our urban Democratic strongholds, Ohio is very racist and downright xenophobic. It's hard to even fathom why Ohio Republicans would get behind him.

Sure, Trump endorsed Ramaswamy, but even Trump's backing only goes so far with the knuckle-draggers here. And he's a Hindu on top of that.

Amy Acton might actually have a legit chance to be our next governor.

And currently residing in an unspecified location in the global south..

All I can say about this is:

https://thetyee.ca/Culture/2025/07/25/Triumph-of-Stupidity/

What resonates for me is Cipolla’s observation that in societies doing poorly, “The stupid members of the society are allowed by the other members to become more active and take more actions.” This affords the stupid contingent much more sway.

History shows that countries or civilizations moving uphill have “an unusually high fraction of non-stupid people that keep the fraction of stupid people at bay.” That development ensures some solid gains for most or all.

But as the good times disappear one notices among those in power “an alarming proliferation of the bandits with overtones of stupidity and a lot more helpless people.” According to Cipolla, that’s never a good combination.

It all ends, of course, in a bad place that bears some uncomfortable resemblance to our current predicament. “Such change in the composition of the non-stupid population inevitably strengthens the destructive power of the stupid fraction and makes decline a certainty. And the country goes to Hell.”

What is sad about this is that Vivek Ramaswamy probably thinks he is intelligent, while also almost certainly smearing people who rely on food or disability assistance as stupid.

Whereas actually, he is a hybrid -a stupid bandit who colludes with other bandits like Musk, Trump etc, as they embrace more overt neo-nazis like Fuentes. He will have no home anywhere even superficially civilized after and Fuentes has no use for him.

An equally self serving and crass, but slightly less stupid person would at least pile their bandit nature on to the dems and try to dilute the dem message into pro-industrial shilling while spewing vaguely “woke” capitalist platitudes..still a bandit and still stupid on a long enough timeline (to quote Fight Club), but less stupid than aligning with Fuentes’ fans to loot the place.

Andrew Nikiforuk is awesome. According to a really cool journalist I recently discovered, Chris Ketcham, he is Canada’s nicer and more radical Bill McKibben. Bill McKibben is a Yimby nowadays and he attacked the movie “Planet of the Humans” which Michael Moore co-produced. Therefore, imo at least, he is definitely in the outdated ‘delay rather than end ecological crises’ camp. He is the type of jerk who gate-keeps any discussion of human overpopulation ensuring that the only people who openly discuss it are spiteful neo-nazis, eugenicists and outright batshit crazies like the New Zealand Mosque Shooter. Problem with bullying real Greens who are not deluded Cornucopians is that only the actual fascists then discuss glaring problems like overpopulation and overgrowth.

Prof William Rees, Nandita Bajaj, Ketcham & Rex Wyler discuss the problems with narrowly focusing only on one symptom of our ecological crisis, not that it’s not a big one:

https://www.truthdig.com/events/too-much-too-little-too-late/

How much industry should be trusted I think all but true believers know by now. I used to be a green (more understated Green) left-liberal, but lately I have been shifting more explicitly Green left of the Ketcham type.

Except that I still blame human stupidity combined with science and technology rather than science or even technology. Science is not the issue. Human stupidity is and with these many people even if you have food (fuck you Julian Simon), education and healthcare and jobs don’t scale the same way and so bullshit jobs, the mental illnesses they bring and a diminishing grasp of the perils plaguing the human condition keep us chained to drivel psychologically.

And the left has plenty of the Jacobin Yimby types I distrust - Ben Wray, Casey Phillips, Freddie DeBoer, Leighton Woodhouse. Far too many sexist, left Pronatalists for the mindless machinic destruction of earth and tossing away of women’s rights as well.

A gleaming communist machine glorifying overpopulation while cheerfully degrading women’s rights and supportive of turning the planet into a more equitably exploited, paved-over parking-lot is just as crass and probably as unsustainable.

But I digress..oh yeah..these guys are daft..

I am sick of morons. I posted this earlier this year and having recently rewatched Idiocracy a couple of times I totally agree with its thesis:

You think you can wield it against other groups and you’re “one of the good ones”, until of course …you’re not.

And is D’Souza playing stupid? Who in the GOP could have legitimized bigotry over the last decade. I have no idea.
