Cancel Black Friday? 'Mass Blackout' doesn't want you to shop or work to protest Trump

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Omaha Steve (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

A coalition of grassroots organizations is calling for a nationwide economic shutdown during the busy holiday shopping season, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to protest the Trump administration and economic inequality.

The groups — Blackout the System, The People’s Sick Day, American Opposition, the Money Out of Politics Movement, and The Progressive Network — urged Americans to stop all spending and refuse to go to work during the "Mass Blackout," which runs from Nov. 25 to Dec. 2.

Avoid travel and restaurants and cancel streaming and digital subscriptions, organizers said. "If you must spend: support small, local businesses only. Pay in cash." Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30 is exempted from the blackout.
...
"We are living under a political system captured by special interests, where billionaires and corporations write the rules," Isaiah Rucker Jr., founder of Blackout the System, said in a statement. "Congress serves donors, not the American people, and democratic norms are being dismantled in front of our eyes, with corporate backing. This campaign is about showing them where the power truly lies, with the people."

    EVERY dollar you spend
    EVERY day
    EVERY week…
    black friday…
    your kids birthday…
    your groceries…

is a vote on the world you want/the world you will accept…even grudgingly/the world you resist

if you are going to go to the same walmart or amazon or mcdonald’s to buy your xmas junk or happy meal the day or week after this boycott…THEY DONT CARE! They’ll still get your money!

Resist every day. With every dollar.

Consumer dollars have power 24/7-365. A spending shut down should have stared months ago. Screw the banks out of their processing fees. Stop using the credit card. 11-million at the No Kings march, if they cut another $25.00 a week out of their spending. 11-million x $25.00, do the math.

The fascist won't like it when we withhold from them. Get pissed, shut spending down. Let MAGA float the economy. Not spending is easier than ordering from Amazon.

All it takes is participation. Spending shut down can be done from the comfort of your couch.

attention (that is their vulnerability) If we the people would get together and bust a few of these entities financially they would start to pay attention to those that they bled to death. The wealthy and corps have no fealty to this country- only wealth and control-the Bible warns us about worshiping mammon because as you can see the results of a lack of morality. This nation is in a mess except the wealthy are doing just fine. Just keep closing your lying eyes like you have been trained to do and it will get worse

    5. I've seen ads from Big Corps that try to weaken this boycott by offering huge discounts to consumers. Don't go for it.
