Newsom brutally mocks Republicans suing California over redistricting map: 'Good luck, losers'

Shortly after California voters approved the new U.S. House map, Republicans filed a federal lawsuit on Wednesday. Backed by Gov. Gavin Newsom, Proposition 50 is designed to assist Democrats flip as many as five congressional House seats in the 2026 midterms.

Newsom's office said on a social media post that the state hasn't reviewed the lawsuit but is confident the challenge will fail. “Good luck, losers,” the post reads.

The lawsuit alleges the map-makers illegally used race as a factor to favor Hispanic voters, and asks the court to block the new boundaries ahead of the 2026 elections.

“The map is designed to favor one race of California voters over others,” Mike Columbo, whose plaintiffs include a state Republican lawmaker and 18 other voters, said at a news conference Wednesday. “This violates the 14th Amendment, guarantee of equal protection under the law, and the right under the 15th Amendment.”

ridiculous lawsuits, to run candidates destined to lose and to get discriminatory proposals on the ballot. All a person in financial hardship need do is declare they are running for public office as a Republican and viola! they suddenly have a six-figure salary and an open invite to dine at all the best restaurants.

towards what would be $20 million spent on the PA State Supreme Court retention election for 3 (D) judges, with the GOP far outspending Democrats to toss the 3 out.

When the smoke cleared, the 3 WON retention with 62% of the vote for retaining.

In a nutshell, the GOP believes in using their "investment" to destroy the lives of others in order to leave more resources for themselves and to boost their own standing among their bubble group.

They will buy and operate print/broadcast/streaming services to push their propaganda, even when these ventures are LOSING MONEY, and will do so over the long term, because to them, the "ROI" is indoctrination, and they can achieve that with patience (and lots of debt).

Doing the very thing in other states that they are crying about in CA?

They are shocked that we won't unilaterally disarm and allow them to illegally and unconstitutionally roll over us.

It's not happening.

They wanted this fight and they can't start crying when they start losing.

Tuesday's election woke them up too, because their gerrymandering, especially in TX is built on the Trump 2024 Latino vote (that has evaporated after 8 months of Trump).

They could lose even more seats in 2026. I have read and heard some pundits speculating that north of 30-40 seats could flip in 2026.

Let's make it happen!
