7 firefighters injured, including 5 with serious burns, after car explosion in the Bronx

THE BRONX, New York (WABC) -- Seven firefighters were injured during a reported car explosion in the Bronx on Wednesday, according to officials.

The FDNY says firefighters responded to a call of reported car explosion around 7 p.m. at 955 Westchester Ave., Intervale Avenue and Kelly Street.

Cell phone video captured the massive flames from a distance.

They were taken to Jacobi Hospital, where they are being treated for burns of varying severity, according to a source from the FDNY.....................

That's typically what caused them to explode back in the day. Also trying to fix something they shouldn't and storing volatile substances in the trunk is another possibility.
