The Army listed German food banks for soldiers seeking shutdown help

Army officials in Germany removed a list of German-run food banks from a “Shutdown Guidance” webpage aimed at soldiers stationed in that country, hours after the list was met with outrage on social media.

A U.S. official told Task & Purpose the list had been posted mistakenly, and was aimed only at German employees on U.S. bases in the country, not at U.S. soldiers stationed there who needed food aid during the government shutdown. Like all U.S. military bases, Army installations in Germany employ thousands of local workers.

The “Shutdown Guidance” page was posted on the official website for U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria, the umbrella command over U.S. bases in Grafenwöhr, Vilseck, Hohenfels and Garmisch. The page listed dozens of resources available to soldiers and their families during the government shutdown, from seeking hardship loans to impacts on base schools.............

lordy lord, Trump can't even feed his troops!!

NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:

I am not a military strategist, but I have a vague memory that not feeding the troops was one of those big fuck-ups that Sun Tzu talked about.

They advocated for this entire system with these stupid and needless cliffs. Sane countrys simply renew the previous budget with inflation increases. They sometimes go years with their parlament not operating.

Many countries have legal mechanisms for automatic government budget renewals or temporary funding to prevent government shutdowns. The specific mechanism often depends on the type of political system (e.g., parliamentary vs. presidential).
Automatic Continuing Resolutions (ACRs)
Several countries have legal provisions that allow government funding to continue automatically at previous-year levels if a new budget is not passed by the deadline. This effectively serves as an automatic continuing resolution (ACR).
South Korea: Article 54 of its Constitution allows for the seamless implementation of a provisional budget, sized in line with the previous fiscal year's allocations, until a new budget is passed.
Germany: If the legislature does not enact a budget before the start of the fiscal year, funding continues automatically at the previous year's level to maintain operations and meet obligations. If revenues and reserves are insufficient, the government can borrow up to 25% of the previous year's budget.
Belgium: The previous year's budget remains in effect until a new budget is agreed upon, which has allowed the government to continue operating even during long periods of political gridlock.
Many European Countries & Latin America: Many other nations, particularly in Europe and Latin America, employ similar systems where existing funding is maintained as a stopgap measure, making government shutdowns rare or non-existent.
