Republican Jewish leaders planned a ceasefire celebration, pivoted to take on antisemitism within

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Concerns that antisemitism is on the rise among Republicans burst to the surface this weekend, turning a conference of the nation’s leading Jewish Republicans from jubilation over a tenuous ceasefire in the Middle East into a clarion call to stem the spread of anti-Jewish voices within the party.

The emerging schism was laid bare by a prominent conservative think tank president’s defense of talk show host Tucker Carlson’s controversial decision to welcome a far-right activist with antisemitic views onto his podcast Thursday, and Carlson’s hesitation to challenge some of his views. It prompted nearly every speaker who took the podium at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual conference in Las Vegas to call for rooting out anti-Jewish elements in the GOP.

Still, the meeting’s proceedings sent a clear signal that the Republican Party has work to do to reconcile views within its ranks about the path forward for Israel in its relationship with the United States, its staunchest ally. But the voices speaking from the podium Friday and Saturday were united in their condemnation of antisemitism.

“We are at this point in what I consider sort of the early stages of an undeclared civil war within the Republican Party, as it relates to Israel, and antisemitism and the Jewish community,” Republican Jewish Coalition leader Matthew Brooks said in an interview with The Associated Press.

3. They might quiet the antisemites, but they'll never purge them from the republican party

How stupid they call themselves Republicans, at least in this day and age.

It’s like the Log Cabin Republicans. Whenever they’re mentioned, I always think, “you know they hate you, right?”.

AIPAC and other Israeli oriented donors give to both parties.

Most of my role models growing up were progressive Jews in the SF Bay Area, many anti-war and pro-environment

Lived with a Jewish woman then married another Jewish woman. Close to two brothers for over 65 years. Their father was a UC Berkeley professor of physics who mainly worked at Lawrence Livermore Lab and worked on bomb in WWII. One brother was best man at wedding. etc. Had two Jewish den mothers in Cub Scouts. Went to a boarding school 2 years of high school that was close to 1/2 Jewish students and many faculty as well. The mother of the two brothers suggested the progressive school near their home after my parents sent me to a sucky boarding school in 8th grade. Went on scholarship. The first time my Jewish roommate's mother came to visit, we went to an anti-Vietnam War rally in San Francisco (1968). My father took me out of the school so graduated on a Reservation school (I am not NA). Later earned two degrees from Cal and worked in Fed research lab in Berkeley. Have had close to zero contact with my family of birth in last 30 years.

Almost all the Jews I knew were Reform. The two families I lived within did not like Likud and Begin and were Democratic. My own family is uneducated and tended to be bigots.

That said, I am sad and angry about the choices made by and militarism of Israel.

These guys were at my hotel and all wore dark suits with American flag on their lapels with perfect haircuts. One guy, a weasel named Congressman Max Miller of Ohio, was holding court in the lounge. I looked him up on Wikipedia and read his personal details. Wow, lots of juicy shit including problems with women and the law. How Ohio voted for him is beyond me. And fellow Jews were meeting with him!

Welcome to the new Young Republican group. Look up Miller on Wikipedia. Wow.

It is only used as fodder to attack the "other side" mostly, or is used to provide cover for ulterior motives, which often end up putting Jews in even more danger, as the Jews, not the ones using the tactic, are blamed.
