Mike Johnson Scrambles To Clean Up Comments From Trump Official Who Told Public, 'We Have Failed You'

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) found himself in an awkward moment on Friday in front of reporters, as he scrambled to clarify comments made by Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, who told the public that we have failed you” amid the ongoing government shutdown.

Responding to a question about the “millions of people who stand to lose their food stamp benefits,” Rollins said, “Poverty is not red or blue, it is not a Republican or Democrat issue. It doesn’t matter who you voted for or even if you voted. If you are in a position where you can’t feed your family, and you’re relying on that $187 a month for an average family in the SNAP program, we have failed you.”

She went on to emphasize that “Republicans have voted over and over and over again to open this government so that these funds don’t stop,” and that “Democrats have said, ‘No, we are going to hold hostage the most vulnerable families in this country so that we can get our left-wing radical agenda into the government’… To that, President [Donald] Trump, Speaker Johnson, Majority Leader [John] Thune (R-SD) have said, ‘Absolutely not.'”

Johnson felt the need to clean up her comments, clarifying that “when she says, ‘We have failed you,’ she means we, the Democrats, ok? Because, as we’ve just explained, Republicans have voted 14 times to get this done. The president has pleaded with [Senator Chuck] Schumer (D-NY) and [House Minority Leader] Hakeem [Jeffries] (D-NY) to open the government, and they told them no.”

So Brooke Rollins, craven loon Secretary of Agriculture under 45, is a Democrat?

It's pretty simple MIKE.

Republicans INTENTIONALLY and UNLAWFULLY terrorized people with their "No Food for You" threat -- and then tried to BLAME the Democrats.

Well, Democrats (23 Democratic AGs + 3 Republican AGs) forced Trump to pay SNAP benefits. They sued and WON.

And now Democrats (44 Democrats and 1 Independent) are Standing Strong to STOP Obamacare Premiums from MORE THAN DOUBLING. They are standing strong but need OUR HELP to WIN on this Too. (Message for Senate and House Republican constituents)

If STOPPING Obamacare Premiums from MORE THAN DOUBLING is a "left-wing radical agenda," then 78% of the country is radical left.

Key findings from an October 2025 KFF poll regarding the potential doubling of premiums if enhanced tax credits expire:

78% of the public want Congress to extend the tax credits that prevent premiums from more than doubling. Only 22% said Congress should let the credits expire.

Among those who buy their own insurance, 70% say they would not be able to afford the higher premiums if they doubled without significantly disrupting their finances.

Only 30% of those who buy their own insurance believe they could afford the doubled premiums.

42% of marketplace enrollees said they would go without health insurance if their premiums doubled.

they keep in mind what the Republicans consider "left-wing radical agenda" is affordable health-care because that's what the Democrats are fighting for in this struggle.

The Republicans cut billionaire taxes and took away your affordable health care and now are using the starving children of the impoverished as a weapon against Democrats.

Mike Johnson is so proud of his strategy, that he has told the Republican led Congress to hide until he says otherwise.
That's his leadership.
