Albany, NY (WRGB) Party leaders have decided to dissolve the New York State Young Republicans (NYSYR) group following a scandal involving racist, anti-Semitic, and violent messages. The New York Times reports the group could be disbanded as soon as Friday, according to the New York Times.
This comes three days after a bombshell POLITICO exclusive report of leaked messages from leaders of groups including NYSYR. Members joked about rape and praised Adolf Hitler in the messages.
According to the NYT, GOP leaders plan to eliminate the NYSYR's charter and reconstitute it under new leadership. Kansas Republicans did something similar earlier this week. The NYSYR website and social media pages were no longer available as of Friday morning.
Bobby Walker, chair of the NYSYR, apologized for the comments attributed to him but resisted calls to resign.

As I have posted before - you CALL THEM OUT as racists and they will recoil and go on the defensive. It obviously won't halt their craven perspective but it breaks up their organizations for the time being, Both NY & KS have (D) governors.

After racist texts among members of the New York State Young Republicans were made public, the partys state leaders were slated to meet Friday and vote to disband the group, three people familiar with the matter said.
The planned vote comes days after Politico disclosed how leaders of Young Republican groups across the country exchanged messages that included racist and antisemitic comments, with some participants discourse including comments about raping their political enemies and placing them in gas chambers.
Several members of the New York State Young Republicans including a recent chair and vice chair were part of the chat and made offensive comments sent over Telegram.
One state Republican official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the effort to disband the group, which was first reported by Newsday, would allow for a fresh start. By eliminating the groups charter, the official said, Republican officials can reconstitute it and then bring in new leadership. Jason Weingartner, the state partys executive director, declined to comment on the planned action.
