Swalwell says 'I fully expect' to be prosecuted over criticism of Trump administration

Source: The Hill

09/25/25 7:07 PM ET

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), a vocal critic of President Trump, said Thursday he “fully” expects to be prosecuted by the Trump administration over his criticism but said he refuses to shy away from exercising his right to free speech.

“I’m ready for it. I fully expect it,” Swalwell said on “CNN News Central,” when asked if he’s concerned that “down the road you may be prosecuted for your criticisms of this White House.”

Swalwell noted that FBI Director Kash Patel previously wrote a book in which he listed 60 individuals he described as “government gangsters” and said should be investigated. Swalwell and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) — who previously served alongside each other in the House — were named “at the very top” of the list “as the two worst,” Swalwell said.

But Swalwell said he’s not going to be intimidated by the Trump administration. “Adam Schiff is under investigation now, so, I’m ready for it. I expect it, but I’m not going to flinch. I’m not hiding under the bed. I’m not going to shrink because that’s the aim. That’s why they do this, is they hope that dissent and oversight goes away.”

2. I can't believe what Patel was allowed to say to Schiff during the hearing.

Isn't there some rules about that? That old fool Grassley just let Patel insult Adam. I hope there will be justice coming for these traitors to the Constitution but I fear there will be none.

3. Eric Swalwell is my favorite member of congress.

I saw a video of him once on the house floor.

He was standing there with some of his colleagues and he hears a commotion
in the background. He looks over and a black Dem member of Congress
was literally being roughed up and pushed around by a white GOPer. Other GOPers
were joining the fray.

Without a second's hesitation, Swalwell runs over and breaks it all up.
He is a big guy and made it clear he would brook no nonsense. This showed
me his true character. And leadership.

Also during J6 when congress was under attack he stayed with another older member
of congress who was recovering from cancer treatment who had to stay flat on her back.
She was having an anxiety attack and felt faint.

A friend of Eric's, a GOPer was standing next to her with no mask. Eric asked him
to please put on his mask so as not to pass covid on the the cancer patient.
The GOP friend refuses. Eric is genuinely perplexed why a man would refuse to a simple request from a friend, and also endanger an elderly colleague.

Eric Swalwell is such a good decent man that the evil and cruelty of others
does not compute and is glaring to him.

He doesn't accept it. And neither should we.

12. It was a black male Dem. But not a big guy as I recall.

He was by himself, the GOPers were ganging up on him.

As soon as Swalwell shows up, standing tall and defending his
black colleague, the GOPers disperse like the cowards they are.

After all, we all leave a digital trail that can be followed.

So maybe we should tone it down?

After thinking about toning it down I’ve decided HELL NO!! In fact now is the time to take it up a few notches!!!
