Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said he has battled with emotional scars since his family was targeted in an arson attack earlier this year.
Speaking with NBCs Kristen Welker on Sundays Meet the Press about the effects of political violence, Shapiro opened up about the impact the attempt on his life has had on him and his family.
My emotional scars have less to do with being governor, and a whole lot more to do with being a father, and a father to four children whose lives were at risk because of the profession I chose to serve other people, the Democrat said. Thats stuff that Ive had to work through, and I continue to work through.
Tackling political violence has become a major focus for both parties in the aftermath of the Sept. 10 killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
