Josh Shapiro: Political violence 'leaves scars'

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said he has “battled” with emotional scars since his family was targeted in an arson attack earlier this year.

Speaking with NBC’s Kristen Welker on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” about the effects of political violence, Shapiro opened up about the impact the attempt on his life has had on him and his family.

“My emotional scars have less to do with being governor, and a whole lot more to do with being a father, and a father to four children whose lives were at risk because of the profession I chose to serve other people,” the Democrat said. “That’s stuff that I’ve had to work through, and I continue to work through.”

Tackling political violence has become a major focus for both parties in the aftermath of the Sept. 10 killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Both are meant to weaken, disorder, and cause fear throughout, and eventually destroy, the whole peaceful geographical and social context of any one of their targets, whether the target is a single individual, home, private/federal building, church, indoor/outdoor public setting. Terrorism threatens death, and therefore "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

witnessed in the US. It goes far beyond political differences. It seeks to be rid of any indifference. That doesn't seem political. It is tyrannical.
