The former US Attorney from southern Florida who negotiated a controversial plea deal in 2008 with Jeffrey Epstein is appearing before the House Oversight Committee as the panel continues its probe into the late convicted sex offender.
Alexander Acosta, the former US Attorney in Miami, arrived on Capitol Hill Friday to meet voluntarily behind closed doors to speak with both Democrats and Republicans. This Acosta deposition is a big deal, and I expect him to have a very challenging, probably six-hour deposition, House Oversight Chair James Comer said ahead of the interview.
Acosta, who also served as former President Donald Trumps secretary of the Department of Labor during his first term, resigned in 2019 amid renewed scrutiny over the plea deal he had negotiated with Epstein a decade before.
Epstein, a well-connected multi-millionaire, avoided a federal trial at the time of the plea deal and served just 13 months in prison for state prostitution charges over his involvement with underage girls. A Miami Herald investigation described the plea deal, negotiated by Acosta, as the deal of a lifetime.

(98 posts)Acosta can weasel out of answering questions in many ways. There has been reporting that he was told to back off of Epstein case because Epstein was involved with national security. So if he really was running honey pot extortion ops for Mossad as has been rumored, let's get him to testify before those members of Congress having the proper security clearance to find out more about this. Or is national security just being used as a ruse to cover up a massive amount of criminal enterprises headed by Epstein and his wealthy associates who may now be in jeopardy? Follow the money.

You see this stuff and it's just so obvious. Trump and Epstein were best friends, the prosecutor who gave him a sweetheart deal was rewarded with a cabinet position by Trump. Can you imagine if Acosta had been given a cabinet position by a Democratic President?
It's a smoking gun that will be ignored as usual.
It's a double standard. Can you imagine if Bill Clinton had been on video with Epstein at his personal home and club literally groping young women together? Bill Clinton would be in prison right now, the Right would have literally marched to his doorstep carrying torches.
