'Sided with Democrats': Nancy Mace melts down at 4 Republicans who sank her censure motion
Source: Alternet
An effort by Rep. Nancy Mace (R‑S.C.) to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar (D‑Minn.) failed in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday night.
The resolution, which was introduced in response to Omar reposting a video and making remarks related to right-wing activist Charlie Kirks murder last week, was tabled by a vote of 214‑213. Four Republicans joined all Democrats in opposing the resolution.
The Republicans who opposed the resolution were Reps. Cory Mills (R-Fla.), Jeff Hurd (R-Colo.), Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) and Mike Flood (R-Neb.)
If passed, the resolution would have formally censured Omar and removed her from some committee assignments. Following the failure of her censure motion, Mace took to social media to attack her Republican colleagues who opposed the move.

(3,012 posts)Instead of targeting Rep. Omar, Republican and Democratic leaders should consider holding accountable bigots like Rep. Randy Fine and Rep. Brian Mast, and even Rep. Mace herself - who in recent days said Rep. Omar should go back to Somalia and told a Jewish colleague they should see a plastic surgeon for their nose," the statement read.
Omar's supplications were not sufficient to please Ms Mace

Four GOP lawmakers joined with Democrats to prevent the progressive congresswoman from being stripped of her committee assignments.
WASHINGTON A prominent Democratic congresswoman just narrowly survived an effort to take away her biggest jobs on Capitol Hill.
Surprisingly, she has Republicans to thank.
On Sept. 17, the House of Representatives narrowly struck down a resolution from Rep. Nancy Mace, R-South Carolina, to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minnesota. The measure would've stripped Omar of her committee assignments, rendering her far less powerful as a lawmaker.
The vote was 214-213. Joining with Democrats were four Republicans: Reps. Mike Flood of Nebraska, Jeff Hurd of Colorado, Tom McClintock of California and Cory Mills of Florida................
On X, Mace called for Omar to be deported to the country where she was born.
"If you celebrate murder, maybe Somalia can take you back," the GOP congresswoman wrote.
Omar responded: "I know you aren't well or smart but I hope someone can explain to you that there isn't a correlation between my committee assignments and deportation.".........................
