Trump Launches Bonkers $15B Lawsuit Against Hometown Paper in Late-Night Tirade

Source: The Daily Beast

Donald Trump has launched a bizarre $15 billion lawsuit against The New York Times that is filled with years’ worth of petty grievances against his hometown newspaper.

The president posted a lengthy rant on his Truth Social account on Monday night attacking the Times for its endorsement of Democrat Kamala Harris in last year’s presidential election and claiming that the paper has never shown him enough respect for his dazzling success on The Apprentice.

Trump previously threatened to sue the paper for publishing articles relating to the bawdy drawing he reportedly contributed to Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous 2003 birthday book, even though it was The Wall Street Journal that first published the contents and then an image of the letter itself. The president has repeatedly dismissed the drawing as fake.

Trump’s lawyer Edward Paltzik demanded a retraction and an apology and suggested Trump might file a $10 billion lawsuit, according to the Times.

as vexatious litigation, in which a person can be denied the ability to continually bring frivolous lawsuits?!

jeez. as with every other thing krasnov has a very twisted way of looking at the law. it's only there for him to make life miserable for other people, never to follow.

His suit against Hillary Clinton et. al earned his lawyer $1 million in sanctions.

This "new" suit is yet another airing of the same grievances.

If they take this stupid lawsuit seriously, we're never going to hear the end of it.

DISCOVERY.

Lawyers are trained to say little and keep their cards close to the vest. I am not a lawyer, but I would respectfully encourage the NYT lawyers to do the opposite.

Rather than lying low and hoping that this blows over when Trump has another diaper fit about something else tomorrow night, I suggest they hold a news conference and say:

The New York TImes is in the business of what the founders called "the Fourth Estate", meaning that they view the free press as having an important role in our society to inform the people about things that those in government would prefer to keep secret. With this in mind, we welcome this threatened lawsuit because the first step of that process involves DISCOVERY. We intend to hold extensive depositions UNDER AOTH with Mr. Trump and many of his cabinet officials and we will require them to answer many questions such as:
* List a half dozen juicy questions
* etc
* etc

Then stand back and watch Trump break the sound barrier while backpedaling. This is how we take away Trump's favorite weapon.

Bizarre late-night tirades on "'Truth' Soclal", calling for the arrests of everyone from Soros to Obama, sundowning in the middle of the day (he couldn't remember who Melissa Hortman was--you know, the other most recent political assassination)...the only things missing are the tacky white jumpsuits and trashed hotel rooms!
